Morels?
    #3588686 - 01/06/05 11:38 AM (19 years, 2 months ago)

It seems that lately there has been a great fruiting of yellow and grey morels... has anyone found any lately? I have a pound or so dry.

lucky bastard!!

got any good ways to prepare the dried ones?  I have a few dried from last spring, but haven't found a decent way of cooking them, can't cook them like I do when they're fresh :\.  dried ones also seem to have a lot stronger morel flavor than fresh ones, it's weird.

Theres been a few patches in my area, they've been fruiting by the 20's on pine wood chips... I find about 20 a week in 5 different patches (100 a week - roughly)... I usualy slightly rehydrate them and stuff them with shredded cheddar, and roll them in bread crumbs... bake these on low and they are similar to stuffed jalepenos, except with a morel instead. I don't know the exact ingredients to the recipe cause ive only done it 3 or 4 times and i never measure anything, but i do set the oven about 300 and leave the door cracked when cooking them.

You can find similar recipes online with google... you should search for dried morel recipes or make a post in the culinary forum asking for recipes of dried morels.

"No- but I've got chantrelles comming up now. You lucky dog you..... " Me the lucky dawg? I find morels all the time, ide be luckier finding your chanterelles...

happy hunting...
