Ok, I know this has been answered and all that but I want to try to get as many people as possible to answer this. What teks do you guys use to do your "thing" I basically just want to know that, and what kind of yeilds/potency you get from these.
Just want some insight to some of the teks in here...Thanks

I grow a slant with the mycelium I want then add 10 cc of sugar water into the slant(2cc molasses to 300 ml water sterilized at 15 psi for 45 min). Then I clip it to a 30 rpm motor for 3 days in the incubator and let it rotate. The air bubble rolls around inside and breaks things up as the PDA agar dissolves with the mycelium on it. After 3 spinning days at 80 degrees I draw out the stuff and use it as a liquid innoculant...but it's more like a food/mycelium soup at that point. It coats grains, sticks to everything and inoculation is creepy fast. A mini liquid culture without using a blender.

I know i'm a gonna get flamed for this, but here goes...
PF Tek is by far the highest yielding way to grow mushrooms, when you measure yield per square foot.
I've seen so many grows, and the PF tek ones always yield highest.

Flamed, no but corrected probably. I've seen much better results with grains spawned to poo that I'd ever hoped to see with the PF Tek, The PF tek is the best route for beginners and people that have no PC to sterilize grains with

perhaps best by space... but with the amount of work put into it, bulk is the way to go. it may be more work, but my fruits got larger and my overall yield was better when you added all the flushes together. i don't see how PF cakes could beat out poo/straw. just my humble opinion, anyway.
i don't flame mike, just make observations. if you go about life with a bad attitude, it'll bite you in the ass. i try to be nice to everyone.

casings only give you a better yield over the amount of work you put into them if you don't count the work you do on the failed casings...
failure rate for someone starting out with casings is huge...
factor in the work you do on the duds, and the PF method outshines the casings

casing just hold water For the substrate...Poo....is way better than Pf....I put so much work into Pf...cakes and casing are both great, i cant say which is better....i've seen cakes that outbeat casings big time and vise verse, its all in how much you know about your doing and most of all, Experimenting and trying it out, if i was you i'd start off with Pf, it's easiest and doesnt require a PC...I'd do cakes first, then casings, then i'd try different grains and so forth.
If shroomery has taught me anything, it's that everyone has their own opinion and the best thing you can do is try it and see how it works for you and critique it...whatever works best, you'll find out through trial and error....
Good luck

I can see how Mike claims that the PF tek is the best route. For a beginner who knows absolutely nothing about mushrooms, then yes, you may be right. However, if you have the tenacity to sit at your computer and read a little bit of everything from this site, then you could do it all.
I just started cultivating last year, and I knew absolutely nothing about mushrooms. My first attempt was using a mycobag and of course that failed. My second attempt involved following a millet tek for grains via karo tek. I spawned 6 quarts to straw/poo following the teks exactly and I harvested 2 oz dry for my 2nd attempt.
I think Mike is only claiming pf tek is the best overall yield because, well, he sells pf jars. But if you want to nkow the god honest truth, from a former newbie, go with grains. PF cakes just cant compare with em. Faster colonization, better nutrients (which means bigger, more potent shrooms). And, you learn so much more about how mycelium colonizes. With PF tek, you just sit and wait. I dont know about you, but im a hands on type of guy. My best advice, pick a tek, and stick to it (word for word). And you'll be fine.
