casing

My friend has a casing that i looked at today and when i smelled it it smelled kinda like beer or some kind of alcohol, is that a sure sign of contamination?

Sounds like you could have a contamination there. Inspect the casing layer as much as possible, and be sure to watch it closely over the next few days. If you see anything out of the ordinary, pitch it.

You may want to chuck it now, but that's up to you.

Any discoloration or anything else visibly wrong?

I think it'll be thrown out he has another one that smells like store bought mushrooms so i guess that answers my question. thanks for your help.
