Can someone help me out.. Pressure cooker question
    #3583516 - 01/05/05 11:56 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I've read the FAQ's and I havent seen anything about this so hope someone has the answer. I have a Glass Ceramic Cooktop and want to know if thats okay to use a Pressure Cooker on. Heres the actual cooktop I have. In the manual I havent found anything that says I cant use a PC but there are restrictions to the type of cookware I can use (flat bottem, no ceramic). I was wondering if the PC manual has any warnings about my type of cooktop. Thanks in advance.

I use a PC on an electric stove no problem... the only thing is, it might be hard to get the right heat level to keep steady pressure, so you might find yourself turning the temp up and down several times to keep the right amount of pressure in the pot... the electric heat is not as fine-tunable as the gas is...

Well I have this...

It's the biggest one I've seen and I have a glass top stove.
I never knew not to use it,so I did.

no problems so far..I just use it on the biggest element even if it does overlap by about an inch and a half all the way around.

If you're really paranoid just get a hot plate for $20,it isn't worth the risk of cracking your stove.
Remember just cause I did it doesn't mean it's safe or smart!
I screw up on a regular basis!

most PC's come with a pressure valve that keeps the pressure at 15 psi.
Its basically a weight that sits on the top and rocks back and forth to release pressure when it hits 15 psi.

Youll be fine using a PC on your stove top. And getting the right pressure should b as easy as any other stovetop. turn on high then when it hits 15 psi (valve starts rockin) turn the heat down to edium.

Depends on your PC i guess

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't even thinking about the heat but thats a good point. I'll have to keep that in mind. I love this place as I'm always learning. Really I was more worried about cracking the ceramic glass cooktop more than anything. That would be hard to explain to the wife.

i see that no one has any idea what your real concern is. He doesnt want to crack his cook top. I think you will be fine. Jennair makes a good range.
Just got off the phone with a sears reapir guy and he said it will be good to go as long as the pc is flat and wont bounce or rock back and forth.

Damn you beat me before i could reply. it will get hot enough and they actually work hella good for temp control

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Mom was a pushover. Wife not so much. I have my hands full with her. But luckily I've been getting the silent treatment lately from her which is really sweet. I pretend it bothers me and she continues to give it. Its a win-win.
