Jars colonised in dark?
    #357917 - 07/20/01 04:43 AM (22 years, 8 months ago)

Hi all,
Recently innoculated some jars and they're almost ready to be birthed, i kept them in the dark while they were colonising as i was going to case them but i've decided that being a first time grower i'm better off going with the safe option of fruiting from cakes. I've read that it takes a long time for them to start pinning and fruiting if they've been kept in the dark during colonisation, just wondering if leaving them in indirect light while i wait the last couple of days for colonisation will speed up the process.

well im not sure about it taking less time. If you take them out of the jar and put into light or leave them in the jar and put them in light it should probably take around the same ammount of time. However, letting them pin invitro will increase the number of mushrooms you get .
