http://www.magicmushroomsrus.co.uk/ is closed for business as well. 'Due to recent changes in the governments stance on magic mushrooms we have taken the decision to withdraw our range for sale to the public. We will be monitoring this situation closely and if we can re-introduce these products without being unlawful then you can be certain you will see our full range of shrooms back. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.'

Does anyone have a link to the new legislation?
Does it say anything about spores?

The changes I have seen relate to products containing active compounds (psilobin/psilocin etc.), so spores would not be illegal.
Also anything about cacti?

No, I'm desperate to find out about spores too.
The newspaper reports have all been as ambiguous as the law so far.

Catci is bloody expensive. If they ban shrooms, I'll just have to risk going back to LSD @ ?3.00 / tab. The Home Office really are bastards. Their sensationalist moralising will just push people who have used shrooms carefully to their benefit for years to more dangerous illegal hallucigens they don't really want to turn to.

No tests. No science. No discussion. No investigations. The Home Office are like gormless sheep responding to newspaper propaganda instead of scientific evidence. They're an embarrassment to themselves and the country. If all the new years eve UK clubbers dropped 30g truffles tonight instead of the customery 8 pints of lager, the country would be a much safer, friendlier place. F@&k the policy makers in this country. Their understanding is more warped than the trips they are trying to ban.

Or maybe more likely (as the site's working now apart from the forum) technical problems with it and nobody's was around to fix it.. plus there's no new law in place yet so no reason for anywhere to stop selling.

Not so far, but no doubt shops/stalls will screw their legality up aswell. If they'd just kept shroom selling discreet then word would have got around amongst interested people and members of the public wouldn't have been complaining to their MPs about the open and obvious selling going on.

After a look around I found the following information on the Home Office and UK Parliament websites. This is the only reference to a change relating to mushroom I could find in the new drugs bill. Home Office http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/n_story.asp?item_id=1191 Proposals in the Bill include: ... dealing with the open selling of magic mushrooms by clarifying in law that fresh mushrooms, as well as prepared ones, are illegal; ... Drugs Bill http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200405/cmbills/017/05017.15-21.html#j125 21 Inclusion of mushrooms containing Psilocin etc. as Class A drugs In Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (c. 38) (Class A drugs), in paragraph 1, insert at the appropriate place? ?Fungus (of any kind) which contains Psilocin or an ester of Psilocin.? Drugs Bill - Explanatory Notes http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200405/cmbills/017/en/05017x--.htm Clause 21: Inclusion of mushrooms containing Psilocin etc. as Class A drugs This clause inserts into Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 a fungus of any kind that contains the drug Psilocin or an ester of that drug. This has the effect of making such a fungus, often referred to as 'magic mushrooms', a Class A drug for the purposes of the 1971 Act. Currently, such a fungus is only a class A drug where it is in a form which constitutes a preparation or other product containing Psilocin or an ester Psilocin for the purposes of paragraph 5 of Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the 1971 Act. I am not a lawyer, but it looks like the intention is to close down blatant selling in places like Camden. Not sure how this affects spores, as its is also an offence to produce, or being concerned in the production, of a controlled drug listed in Schedule 2 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. Can't find any mention of cacti at all. Edit: typos.

i dont think it helped that nearly every other stall in camden was selling majic mushrooms, but i guess they were just responding to demand and last year every joe public was into it like the new candy, erm i think it was the new candy!

Indeed, I don't think it took a genius to see how the Daily Mail brigade would react. And that it would get the typical knee-jerk reaction from this government, as usual, with no debate what so ever.
I think putting shrooms in the same category as Heroin and Crack Cocaine is way over the top IMO.

the decision can actually be apealed against but you need to get good support and some top drawer lawyers on the case,
not sure if either would happen, but one thing for sure, as a nation of moaners we will sit here and complain but alas not do much

there are thousands of well documented cases of death caused by shroom overdose.
Psilocybin is highly toxic, dangerous and noxious
shroom dealing encourages ak 47 wielding drug cartels and is destroying our society! It is a major source of pain and addiction....people are out there right now stealing and raping old grannies to pay for their habits!
JUNKIES! aaaarrrgggh!
and even worse......it could be like the 60's all over again! except deeper and less flowwery -
A ban is the only sensible option...and the substances deserve to be in the highest category
God made a friggin mistake! AGAIN! Thankfully some good white folks spotted it *phew*

Just an online petition, won't accomplish anything, but it gives a fairly decent overview of the situation. I'm going to try to set up a campaign website encouraging people to write to thier MPs.
