i noticed a yellow something growing in a jar filled with various grains(whole brown rice, rye, wbs).this yellow stuff seems to be growing only on the rice.does anyone know if this yellow stuff doesn't grow on rye, because if it doesn't i may be able to get this strain going or i may need to throw this print away and lose the strain.the spores came from a contaminated print.other jars with different strain does not have this problem.
If it is growing, get rid of that jar and be very careful in doing so. You don't want to breathe any spores from the contam. PC the jar before opening to empty, or wear a mask and open the jar and fill with a bleach, water solution before emptying. Some mold spores can be very hazardous to you health, so just be very careful. If your have experience with agar, you can use a contaminated print, if not get rid of it, it is just a waste of time and substrate. GL.
