When should I expect 2nd flush?

So far its been a day since I put the cakes back into the fruiting chamber, after I dunked them for 12 hours. I rolled the cakes in dry vermiculite, but it wouldnt stick to the entire surface. Is that fine? This is the 2nd flush, and I was just wondering when I should expect to see more pins, days wise. Thanks.

Just a standard rubbermaid with a hinged lid. Nothing special.

How are you giving it humidity and 02 and c02 exchange? Fanning and misting?

I had that problem too. Someone here told me to drop the wet cakes into the bag of dry verm. I did that, covered them over, and waited a minute. The result was really poor coverage.

The problem was that minute that I waited. The verm was pulling the surface moisture away. Now I just give it a quick roll in the verm and get it the heck out. The coverage is much better, but still not total.

As long as I'm typing;

As a base for the cake I cut about an inch from the bottom of a beer can with a sharp knife. That gets half filled with saturated verm. The cake goes on top. Some people use jar lids, but that ties up a lid. Seems I always have enough beer cans about.  :smile:

The part of the cake that was at the bottom of the jar is concave. I put that end up. It makes a nice basin for another gob of verm. Remember that the purpose of all this extra verm is to extend the water supply. Mist the whole shebang gently, so as not to knock off what you just applied.

All the moisture mentioned above is .03% H2O2.

Don't use soda cans. If you aren't old enough to get beer, you shouldn't be growing  :smirk:

I fan every 2-3 hours, and mist once the water is no longer visible on the cakes (the tiny tiny droplets). I didnt bother to put any more verm on the cakes, because it didnt stick well, so will this turn out to be a problem or is it fine?
