casing levels affecting pinning?
    #3575044 - 01/03/05 02:56 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

My pins seem to be forming first and foremost on the outer edges of my trays, where I think there is probably less casing soil and the mycelia is more visibile on top of the surface. Is this normal or should I reduce the amount of soil I'm using closer to the middle of the trays.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

are you using a clear plastic tray? the light entering the sides may be causing it, but thats just a guess

My casings usually pin around the edges first then the middle pins about half way through the first flush. My casings are sort of a plateau w/o touching the sides of it's container. Don't get discouraged and start scraping anything off just yet!
