Using casings as bulk spawn

I'm still waiting on a replacement part for my PC. Meanwhile i'm out of jars/spawn and i have some wet horse poo/straw mix that i've been itching to try out. Could i use a couple of the casings below (first flush a week ago) broken up as spawn to make a small bulk setup in a fish tank?

Sure. You can always use casings at any point...the older the more likly to contam but after just one flush you should be able to. This will NOT be 100% though and if you want to be more sure of survival you should make fresh spawn.

I'd like to make fresh spawn, but my PC has been out for a month and i just ran out. I was going to go bulk because I could oven sterilize. 4 hrs @ 170 in some foil is the plan. Sound good?
