Look at the values (with regedit) under this registry key on your system.

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If you see any proggies that you don't recognize, they may be causing the problem. They may also be software that's supposed to run on your system, so I hope you know what you're doing if you delete any of them.

Hmm.. I was thinkin'.. The code might be exploiting Windows' Crap-Filled Desktop feature. Er, I mean, *Active* Desktop. Just right click on the desktop, then from the context menu -> view -> active desktop to turn off. Click 'properties' from that menu to bring up a dialog to edit your 'active desktop' items.

Hope one of these two things take care of your prob..

You might have spyware installed on your computer. I've been told that that can make messages pop up and shit. Go to lavasoft.de to download a prog that will take spyware off your comp. You'll be suprised how much is on there.

Get a proggie that allows you to view all programs running in the background. SafePatrol is one. Safepatrol allows you to kill a running program that could not otherwise be sut down. once it is located and shut down, delete the offendin exe. Then get a good spyware blocker.

Cydoor is the main spyware in the file sharing browser Kazza and perhaps other file sharing browsers (not Morpheus). It's the one spyware that if you delete it- will cause Kazza not to work. I understand that it keeps running even after uninstalling Kazza. It's hevey duty for spyware. Go to cnet.com and read the user's opinions off Kazza and you will see what I mean.

Have you installed Kazza?
