recently i found a nice field where most times i go i can pick about 50-70 shrooms. I showed a few of my mates where they grow and collectively we go there pretty regulary. i was wondering will the shrooms die out? if so what can i do to make sure there still there for my kids? my mate told me to tap them on the top before you pick them but that wont work because the spores only fall out once they have started to die, right?
-------------------- these things make me feel funny!
after the veil breaks then the spores will start falling but yea do what your friend said tap the top and some of the spores will fall off, or u can let them live and they will drop spores by themselves
-------------------- May God have mercy upon my enemies, because i won't.
Tapping the caps will not help. The spores are forcibly discharged into the air as they are produced; they do not collect in the caps. The best way to ensure that you do not deplete the field is to pick selectively. Leave the baby pins and leave the big spread out mushrooms which are past their prime; they are usually full of maggots anyway, but will continue to produce spores until the rot.
