Pressure cooking

I'm just mixing up my PF Tek jars and was pretty sure that the jar is supposed to be slightly open yet covered with tin foil. Is this right or should the jar be sealed?

If you did the ole poke the holes in the lid thing ... screw the cap down tight , cover holeS with some 3M micropore tape , place a piece of foil over this, done to minimize water getting into the jar during PC , and acts as a dust barrier later on .

I never put lids on real tight. Just alittle snug. I had to cut the lids off my first try because I put them on too tight. PC'ing seems to tighten them tighter.

Never had that problem before , especially if you invert the lids . When actually "canning" materials the seal formed is a vaccum , caused by the cooling of hot air in the jars , never had to cut lids that way either , you must be a real HEMAN !
