Casing Overlay

Looks like I have a level of dead matted casing. It was a thin casing in the first place and the mycelium quickly covered it. According to what I read this is now just another level of substrate.
So the question is "what can I do?"
Can I give it another appropriate level of casing mix and hopefully get another flush out of it?
Im using 50/50 verm and cow shit and got 1 flush out of it.

Yes, this worked for me in the past, you can also tear up the surface of the casing layer with a clean fork ("deep scratching"), and also add a little new casing material.

Actually thats what I already did before I made the post just wanted to make sure, thanx.
Oh, I covered it with some plastic and put it in a dark place until I see some mycelium poking through again, cool?

Yes, but only until the mycelium starts poking through, then spray the mycelium down a bit and put into terrarium.
