Changing meaning behind the term "high"
    #3570559 - 01/02/05 11:45 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

How should I phrase this...

I've noticed that some groups of people, and often times it's "older" people, like 60s and 70s was their crazy days , refer to most any change in consciousness as "high", whether it is drinking, smoking, or eating...  Whereas today, we often say and use special terms which refer to specific actions, degrees, or both; such as, "perking" (drinking and sort of "buzzing"), or "tripping", or "stoned"/"baked"/et al, et cetera, and so on.

So, I'm wondering, if I noticed anything at all, is it more an issue of thinking of them as indeed all of similar "high" since it is just describing a general change in consciousness, is it because these other terms simply didn't exist, or what?

maybe they were all high and didn't want to kill their buzz by creating names for it.
