does every turd grow mushrooms? if it did then you could do that and, but it obviousely doesnt so youre experiment wnt work. the pf tek gives the mycelium (shroom fungus) the proper nutrients and condotions to colonize. once it gets 100% colonized then it is ready to produce mushrooms and if its given light (to produce a hormaone that makes pinheads) and 90-100 % humidity then they will grow very well and give good yields. or you can leave them in the jars and give them light and youll get a nice amount of fucked up looking shrooms, and you wont be able to make a sporeprint. i told some people a while ago (when i first got into growing) that i was growing shrooms and they were like: what do you take some cow shit and throw it in a box and give it light? then theyde laugh at me, but then when i asked them if they wanted to buy some they didnt hesitate and were very pleased. this substrat works nice and it containes steer manure:
3 cups steer manure
5 cups vermiculite
10 tablespoons brown rice flour
2 cups water
this will get you 12 1/2 pint jars and it works just as good as the pf tek except i think it may be faster. if youre soooo worryed about the pf tek not having cow shit in it then use this recipe, but it think theres nothing wrong with the pf tek.

just because you stick feathers up youre butt does not make you a chicken.
