shroomhunter.netmegs.com I'm a little concerned that this guy may not be totally accurate in his 'field guide'... If you more knowladgeable folk could go through his guide I would appreciate it, I don't want newbies going to this place without it being accurate, so please check it if you have time.
Anybody know the guy who set this website up?

Well sorry to say Thor that all of the information at this site as for identification has been taken from all of my research and photographs. He mispelled Coprophila as P. copriphila. List P. coprophila and P. montana as psychoactive species when in fact they are not.
All or most of all of the photos came from my book Safe-Pik Mushroom Identification Guide posted at Erowid.org.
Three photos belong to Paul Stamets. One of the P. azurescens posted at his Identification page and then P. cyanofibrillosa and P. liniformans var. america are a Pauls images.
his biggest error is saying that magic shrooms have a dark blue/purple spore print when their is no blue in the spores or in the sporeprints.
I did not look at his growing teks but they most likely came from someone else.
I have no idea who this person is or why he build this site.
Mj
But I am not going after him.
Just I really do not think anyone will pay much heed to it. The descriptions are als from erowid.org

Thanks John, I was just worried that he might be spreading possible erronious info.
I am planning on putting up a very complete section here at the shroomery for mushrooms of the world. I want to shroom locator like the one you worked on, and of course have loads of wild pictures.
If you wouldn't mind I would like to recruit you to help me with it.

Hi Thor, sorry but most of my time is now spent on creating my new line of CD-ROMS, which will include my two books, Mushroom Pioneers and Psilocybian Mushroom Cultivation: A Brief Histoty co-authored by Jochen Gartz, plus of course the bibliography which is currently taking up all of my time.
Right now I am in need of some assistance myself inthe field of Jewell Case making and label making for my art CD-ROM which is now availble with 1040 images and four animated filmstrips.
Have a shroomy day and good luck,
mj

Really? Would you mind contacting this guy about it, I'd hate to see anything on that website that could lead to someone mis-identifying and making themselves sick.

A Panaeolus subbalteatus is a Panaeolus subbalteatus, no matter where it's found! It always will contain Psilocybine and Psilocine as well as other chemicals. Although, picking the mushroom in a manure pile amongst toxic waste would be a bad idea, simply picking it out of manure will be A.O.K.
Also, Ps. coprophila will be Ps. coprophila wherever you find it and will never be worth your while. Stay cool-Levi7.

Over a year ago, I was looking for mushroom sites, as I had just got my computer. I typed in "Pilocybe" and "Mushrooms" and there were several peoples' homepages that listed psychoactive species. There were quite a few sites that listed Ps. coprophila as an hallucinogenic species. Who can blame them? The National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms lists Psilocybe coprophila, the "Dung Loving Psilocybe". as an hallucinogenic species. Hell, if you took their word for it, you wouldn't be spreading false information, as The National Audubon Society is an extremely respectable society here in the U.S.A. Although, certain peoples here might immediately put your name in the class F morons for simply believing this information that was definitely reviewed by a host of Professional Mycologists before publication. Considering this an internet site, where info can be spread even by semi-mycologist who are not respectable by the real-mycologists, you cannot blame those who believe the quality-bound books written by those professional mycologists.
Enough said. People who read the books that they spend their hard-earned money for and then freely spread the information they read to those who might see it as beniful, should be congratulated for their efforts, instead of being accused for spreading information. If they had known it was misinformation, then it would be a matter of "you-know-who's" ultimate ego-trip. Otherwise, it would be a matter of innocent peoples being extremely giving to those who might benefit from the information. I congratulate those people who take the time to spread information read from Respectable guides and articles. Stay cool, people!-Levi7.
