Here we have the edible Volvariella speciosa:

and a bucket-full of the gourmet Suillus granulatus:

I wish I could tame them...

It is not. The hunting forum is for IDing of non-gourmet mushrooms.
These mushrooms are IDed and gourmet.

Do you know how to cultivate the Suillus indoors?

no indoor cultivation. :frown:

Hey wideweb, Scuillus species are mycorryhizal. Mycorryhizal
species can be grown in culture. So far as I know thought
no one has gotten any to fruit without growing with
a host plant. Since they do grow on sterile media
they may be able to fruit without a host. Noone has
found a way to do that yet.

if Suillus will fruit without a host it will be half mycorrhizal
half saprophytic ??????

I think it would be both if someone unlocks a
way to make it fruit without a host.

There are a couple of boletes that fruit
without a plant as a host.

The parasitic bolete grows on pig skin puff
balls and Ash tree bolete grows with
an aphid that lives in association with the
roots of Ash trees. There are probably more.
I can't think of the name, the bolete that
only grows on rotten wood.

We welcome these kinds of posts in the hunting forum. It's not just for IDs and actives. One great thing about edible posts is that they encourage some of the new members to expand their interest in mushrooms beyond the active ones. I can't explain why but I think that's very important.

Nice Finds.
