Casing in Pmp???

Hello, i have a few quick questions. I'm planing on making a few casings today out of some pf cakes, thy are dunking right now, i noticed when i pulled them out of the jars there was a slight slime or perhaps it was just water on the outside of some of my older cakes they still looked great though so i dunked all in one large tub. Assuming there OK I'm going to case with 50/50 then cover with Saran right? let incubate a few days patch if needed and then can i put it in to my pmp? Are there any ways to modify a pmp for a casing? Thank you so much any thoughts or tips are greatly appreciated!

You should be fine, I do casings in a PmP without perlite or any additional humidification except for misting 3 times a day. Make sure you keep the casing layer near saturation to get pinning started, and fan a few times a day too. Saran wrap is fine for incubation period also, I prefer aluminum foil with several holes pocked on top. I suggest poking some holes in that saran wrap layer too.
Good luck!

Not really, I've seen and had various types of slime in the past that turned out to be nothing in the end. Unless it's an obvious contaminant, just ride it out and things should work out just fine.

Pmp will work for casings but it is made for cakes as the others have stated they need to mist. The reason is that the casings cover the surface the humidity comes from but it will do fine with the air exchange. In other words mist 1 to 3 times a day (depending on the conditions where you live) and it will do fine.

Yeah I hear ya. There are a few of us who like to go against the norm a little. Mostly a issue for people who keep their humidity up high all the time. (It's my secret to lots of pinning without patching )

Sweet!! so now, i have enough cakes, I'm thinking about casing the bottom of my incubator because 3 Baking tins wont fit in it! What extra steps need to be taken and would i still need to cover with foil or just leave the lid on. Thanks!

Be carefull putting all your eggs in one basket. A small oversite on casings leads to a "oh shit now I remember doing that...damn that sucks..."...
a small oversight on an aquarium sized casing leads to a "click-click-boom" feeling for well over a week.
Justa thought. GL in any case
