Peyote Cuttings
    #3562968 - 12/30/04 10:30 PM (11 years, 11 months ago)

Lets say we have a nice Peyote cutting, button with a 4 inch diameter and a good plant body about 5 inches long before the scab where it was cut. Could the button be removed leaving the rest to root for future growth or does the cactus need it's button for the growth?

Please respond!! It would be very nice to have an answer before NYE

The root can often regenerate by itself but it's better to leave at least one areole from the button behind.

A peyote of that size should generate a few new pups after having the top cut off as long as it has the aroeles to pup from.

An areole is where the spines and flowers come from. You will see a little dot there or something, perhaps a little fuzz.
