About 3mm average. About any PP bag could be used as a "spawn bag". But all are not suitable - as a "spawn" bag. For instance some PP bags made for disposal of hazardous material have an anti-fungal mixed into the PP resin. It also depends on the manufacturer & purpose of the "spawn" bag. Bigger ones are sometimes made a little thicker, because they are designed to carry a heavier weight load.

Yeah the things aren't made for superman though. I had three pounds of compost in one and set it on a piece of plastic that had some gentle points coming from it...they poked right through the bag. My dumb-ass fault for setting it down in such a retarded spot...but I was still surprised that it punctured as easily as it did...Guess the fact that you can heat the shit out of it doesn't mean you can put a needle to it. Something to keep in mind when dealing with razor blades, scalpels, and any other sharp object...
