Hey everybody just wanted to show people how to do a heated blanket TIT (atleast I hope so)
1)Put a flannel(what else are they good for jk) in the bottom of the big tub.
2)Put my $30 twin size heated blanket ontop of the flannel
3)Put my next tub ontop of the blanket with a flannel on the buttom of that with my 5 bags ontop of that flannel. I have a mini thermo meter ontop of the whole inclosure.
It fits perfect in my closet and is very discrete. I am playing with the heat setting right now to insure a constant temp of around 84?. I hope this helps some people, cuz thatd make me feel all warm inside

Are you going to fruit in that? If so, check this.
Just an old extension cord laying on top of a tub. Nothing to see here folks. Ho Hum. Move along.

Well, really there are a couple of little slots cut into the lid.

That's a 7 watt night light. The cover is removed so as not to collect water. I know that there will probably be corrosion issues, but these lights are a couple of bucks at thrift stores.
My digital clock radio is usually on top of the tub, plugged into that cord.

using heated blankets and heating pads isnt a good idea. They arent meant to be on 24/7 for a couple weeks. Why not just do a true TIT with water/fishheater? heater is 15$ at walmart.

Is there any problem with like having it on for 16hrs and turning it off for 8 hrs a day? Cuz 16hrs is a useful daily thing in the winter up here in the north, so there should be no worries then. Would the myc really not like that?

LOL. It's 911 where I live.
I don't see a big fire hazard, but as someone else mentioned...why the hell not just do a TIT?
I know why. Before I did a TIT I was trying to do a heater pad. Why? Because the thought of a tub filled with water and a heater in it sitting in my room just pissed me off. I meen, what if I got reall drunk and decided to play carpet football, and tipped it over? Come on we cant have that now...
After messing around with idea after idea, I realized I was trying to re-invent the wheel. A heating pad works fantastic with agar's fridge idea. When it comes to a rubbermaid tub indoors, it just doesn't get much better than a TIT with water and a heater. I know it's not the cleanest idea...but come on man. It is a tried and true method.
BUT, if you are going to use a heating pad for some unforseen reason...just get them temps right and the shroomies won't know the difference. Good luck!

I know what strikes me as odd about this. It is totally unnatural. The whole idea is just totally backwards.
So are historians going to look back at 'The Great Cake Eaters'? Damn. That was a backwards step in the evolutionary process. We left Shroomheads in the dust. Welcome to the new age of Vermheads.

Truthfully, if this is done right, no harm will come... The light would have to be on 24/7... If the light temp drops, water will drip onto it, causing a short circuit/fire.
What you can do is cut a hole large enough for a tapered glass to fit through, or a jar with a lip. Then place the light in the glass, so it is outside teh moisture filled container.

Wait... this is for an incubator!
Mycelium grows underground... It doesn't need light until you want to get it pinning!

it's ok...i know I'ma lil' late but I use a heating pad and a 15 minute interval timer...that works fine, pads shouldn't be on more than an hour, I usually have in on for 45 and off for 15 or on for 30 and off for 30...play w/ it. and I see u have mycobags...I started w/ mycobags and a similar set up w/ a pad + a blanket...some shit grew on the pad cover and blanket (contaminated half my bags)...I still use a pad but i take the cover off and just raise the cakes using mesh screan. I just don't use cloth or anything organic or...absorbant like that. and fish heaters break on me...even the good high wattage ones. I must have went through 5+ aq. heaters in my first 2 projects...then i just got a pad that tolerates humidity. Still use it for fruiting too, heats the perlite...Cambodians love heat.
