WTF. Day 15 and I still have no growth. Bags have NOT been at temps of 82-87 more like 75-80. I have lots of moisture build up still inside the bag for some reason. Between 1.5-3cc were injected into each bag. Please let me know if these still have a chance...maybe time will provail.

Put them in dark warm place and leave them there for a couple of more weeks . Patience is what you must learn right now . If you keep disturbing them and handeling them and putting them in the light they will dissapoint you

You conditions aren't optimal, expect growth to be slow...to moist and to cool=to slow and to slow. Probably didn't happen to shake the syringe well before each injection (good) did you? And I don't suppose you squirted the spores right against the bag edge (good) instead of in the middle of the substrate (bad)? And whats in those bags? Looks almost like wood chips? Cant really tell but wood chips is a poor growing medium for cubensis mushies. They still have a chance until they become contaminated though so just keep them around for another week or so or until they contam or grow.
You could have also gotten a fake syringe if gotten from ebay or something..though a sponsers syringe should be viable...it still could be the syringe even if from a sponsor and they would replace it if you end up with zero growth after some more time. Also if you haven't mashed up the bag and did squirt into the middle there could be some white in the middle..make sure before tossing, whenever you do if you decide to, you do mix it up well to check well for any myc anywhere

It can take a week or 3 for spores to germinate, anyway. Patience is a virtue. Often, a syringe with only a few spores in it, doesnt do all that well, because you only get a few start points. Then, if you FONDLE bag multiple times daily, that slows matters more. If incubated in less than optimal conditions, that slows matter - even more. Optimal conditions INCLUDE: 1. Darkness 2. High ambiant rh inside & outside bag (so bag doesnt lose moisture) 3. Temp 82 / 85F CONSTANT 4. Do not MANIPULATE bag until at least 15% colonized. 4. PATIENCE. This is JAR day 5 or 6 with OPTIMAL syringe, under OPTIMAL conditions.

ok thanks for the help. I thought patience might pay off in the end thats why I asked. And I did do alot of reading before I injected and I DID inject on the outside not the inside... thanks and 4 of the bags are myco grain based and one was rye based. Im trying guys, I really am!

We just have to cover the basis, its almost always user error.
You could have just gotten a syringe thats not viable or that had very few viable spores in it. Mixed with not quite optimal conditions could slow things down alot..but after a week or so you should know and hopefully you bought from a shroomery vendor just in case the syringe is at fault.

You hit it on the palm of your hand a few times. Then grasp with both hands & shake it. There is about 3/4 to 1 inch of open head space at the top. It will shake. The thousand or so done before this one shook.
Head space EXAMPLE
100% colonized jars

I like to stuff (not pressing down AT ALL, just filled close to the top) my jars as well..you dont need much room to shake..its just a little more difficult...worth the extra substrate though..

Well buddy if it is any consolation bags take foooorrrrreeeevvvveeeerrrr to colonize. I threw one away because I was sure...SURE...it was not going to take. Even AFTER a second injection. All the other bags had colonized. After a week of the bag sitting outside in a trashcan in the cold, I found it growing healthy white myc. Explain that one...
If your bags have no mold (good or bad) odds are you need to throw them in a dark warm place and get high so you can forget about the for another two weeks.
BTW, that bag took a month and a half to colonize. But it did, and it produced some BOMB fruits
No worries pal. Just try not to look at your shit every day. Your myc is very timid.

I have one problem with bags... (I work at a plastic injection molding plant...)
1. If you don't wash them out before you use them, you are transmitting all the manufacture residue into your stuff.
2. A lot of bags are MADE to purposely hinder mold/bacteria growth, so they keep stored stuff looking better longer... protected.
The one exception to this rule is ziplock bags... They are one of many, that we use in the industry, because of thier inert chemical composition. They don't add, or remove anything from its contents.
Tuperware is the worst! That is some of the most toxic and cheapest plastic ever manufactured... The more you wash it, the worse it gets!

What I was trying to say was... you might be growing, but it might be away from the walls of the bag. It might be all inside the substrate, just out of view.

So are you saying that it would be possible to colonize a ziplock bag pretty easily?

Oven bags which are usually used for grow bags dont have anything on or in them to hinder growth and are fine for colonizing. Would work better then a ziplock which wouldnt survive a PC to well I dont think and would need a seal besides the ziplock.

Thanks, I figured there was a reason I never saw anyone using them.
