cacti cutting root question
    #3558626 - 12/29/04 08:59 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

hey i was wondering if this needs to be cut off in order to root.. or if i can just plant this as is.

also if the crowns of some cacti are mushy does that mean that they have some sort of rot.. or could it just have been bounced around in shipping

thanks all it is very much appreciated

Plant it as is, keep an eye on the soft tissue but don't worry about it. Easy on the water and it should be fine.

It looks like that pup was cracked off a main stem. That's some woody supporting tissues with some vascular tissue in it. Normally when i crack a pup off a main brack, i cut that stuff off flush against the cactus let everything callus up and the plant.
