Casing fruiting on bottom
    #355862 -

This is my first attempt at casing and have found errors in my ways. I've been very happy with them over cakes until today. I have 2 casings using 2 different bottom layers; perlite or 50/50, and both topped off with 50/50. I was ecstatic when they started pinning the other day until I noticed that the one with the 50/50 layer is pinning and fruiting on the bottom and heavily on the sides. While the casing with perlite only has them on the upper sides. The ones on the sides are bigger than any of others on the top. Why you ask? Because I used clear tupperware instead of a non traslucent container. Room was provided by the casing shrinking away from the sides.
To try and help my casing I took scissors and a poker and extracted all the shroom material I could from the sides. Some were hard to extract as they had grown so large. I ended up with a bowl full of immature specimens. I then took moist vermiculite and filled in the sides and gaps. Hopefully this will prevent more from growing before the ones on top reach maturity. There is no way to get to the ones fruiting on the bottom. I am assuming they are going to just rot and cause me future trouble.
I had a real hard time ripping up these casings I have put so much effort and time into. Did I do the right thing by removing all I could? I am assuming the ones growing on the sides and bottom are only consuming nutrients and water that I want the top layer to have.

Somebody please help me save these!!!!!!

There is. Take the whole casing out, place it on the top and fruit it like a giant cake.
Next time use an opaque container.
