Scare from the postal service
    #3557027 - 12/29/04 01:14 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

So I recieved my spores today, the ones I was worried about freezing in another post... but went through quite a scare to get them.

I recieved a little orange slip in my mailbox yesterday, went today to pick them up at the post office, they looked around for a bit, and finally said they had no clue where they were, and that there was a weird routing number on the package that probably means they were being held at another post office. So they gave me the number to another post office, I called them up, gave them my number and he said he would check and call me back. a few minutes later, I recieved a phone call saying he needed to do some more checking, and asked if I would be at my house for the next half hour so he could call me back.

Weird routing number, checking to see if I'd be there for the next half hour, lost package full of syringes that could be used to produce psylocibin... I booked it and went someplace else for an hour. Came back to my apartments, went into the office, and found that he had dropped the package of there yesterday, still sealed and in great shape.

Sheesh, talk about a scare for some little things things to look at under a microscope...

And thanks TLG for a great service again...

Spores arent illegal...not squat they can do...can't even seize them. Glad everything was good.

I can understand where you would be concerned given these circumstances and a healthy dose of parania. BUT, we deal with the post office EVERDAY and they can do some really bone-headed things. I would suspect that your package is fine, that they are telling you the truth and that their  workers are just trying to track it down. Hell, they might have even lost it somewhere. I've had entire bags of mail come up lost (10-15) packages before in the past.

The post office, for the big massive governmental organization it is can be considered fairly efficient, but this sounds like they just are missing your package and can't find it right now.

1. Yellow slip is often given to mail customers when a package can't be fit in their box or left on their door (apartments, highly urban areas, ect).

2. A "wierd" routing number would be strange to a clerk at one location because it is different than the routing numbers that his/her carriers would be using (becuase it probably came from another post office location).

3. Getting your number to call you back and calling around to find your package is not normal in so much that it seems like this is actually a very helpful mail clerk you were dealing with .

Hopefully this eases your mind a bit.

Don't forget about all our guns; the reason why we have so many is that we get a great discount by buying them directly from the government.

Post Office sent my spores to my neighbors. The box was in their house for two days.

I had a package held up at customs a long time back. Some wrote the contents were toys. In fact they were syringes. This was about the time of the anthrax scare. So I got a letter in the mail from customs, were they opened the package and found they were syringes and not toys. I got ahold of the number that was sent and asked them to destroy the contents. Everything was scarey for awhile. Thats been a couple years now. So I got lucky!
