the inside lid of the terrarium the other day (mighta been yesterday). Today when I opened the container, they had a white whispy growth over them I cleaned it immediately with alcohol, and whiped everything down. My question: Is it possible they were colonized flakes that just took to the moisture, as they were white. Also, if it was a contam, It can't touch my cake now can it? How sterile should my environment be when I open the tub?
Yeah they could have had a very small amount of myc. on them and grew in the presence of the moisture on your lid. If you cleaned it with alcohol it should be fine, the lid that is. As far as opening the tub, do it in a draft free place and spray the air around where you are going to open it with Lysol, oust, or alcohol, in a spray bottle before opening to bring down rogue spores that might be floating around. GL.
