Just a thought...

Would it be possible to "feed" your mycelium? If so, would you have to sterilize it? Maybe if you put a thin layer of some nutrient loaded material ontop the mycelium it could consume it before any contaminants could get to it...

Very bad idea. Most contaminiants are much quicker and very non-picky of what they eat and will almost everytime take hold before the mycelia. If you really want to try adding more nutrients, take a clean syringe and inject sterile sugar water deep into the mycelia, past the top casing layer. But I strongly recommend you just let it be. :smile:
