Need help...

I originally planned on using the poorman's terrarium (coca-cola bottles) as my growing "chamber" but I dont think it will work out too well. Is there anything better to use than coke bottles?

You can use a small glass fish aquirium. You can use a variety of tupperware or plastic containers.

Basically you want something that will hold moisture in. You can use rubbermaid products, large jars, I knew a guy who cut the top off of a big apple juice containers:) He scored the glass, heated the score with a candle, then after a few minutes he quickly immersed the bottle in ice water, the thing broke off right where he scored. Then sanded down the edges with sand paper so they weren't so sharp.

I've heard of bulk cultivators using garbage bags with wire and/or wooden frames.

Let you imagine go wild:)

If Im going to use a rubbermaid container, what should i do when the mushrooms grow taller than the container? Would they still retain the right amount of humidity if i left the lid off??

/me smiles

You need a container thats about 6" to 8" higher than your cake:) And no the humidity won't be kept if the lid is off. You need the lid. If you can, get something thats about 12" high and a wide and as deep as you want.

alright, thanx again. but there still remains one last issue... the jars that i have arent too large. if i wanted to fill in the remaining space in the rubbermaid with substrate, what factors would i have to consider and how could i deal with them?
