Thoughts on my banishment
    #3548438 - 12/27/04 02:39 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

Cervantes: "If a mod asked you to stop doing something, and you practically told 'em to "Shove it." Wouldn't you be risking bannishment?"

Is this an honest assessment? Here is the letter in it's entirety:

Dear Trendal,

I hear what you are saying, but I can drive no one anywhere. I am not that powerful. (If I was you wouldn't even think of messing with me!) Here is what I see:

Link to a commercial con-artist site = no problem.

Promote illiteracy - no problem.

Disseminate inaccuracy and erroneous "facts" - no problem.

Attack Swami - definitely no problem because "I deserve it." This you have directly stated on too many occasions and others get away with shit that I NEVER would. I guess that's cool as the standard is not uniform.

Lose a friend? Not sure whom you are talking about, but anyone who is too gutless to contact me directly is not worthy of my friendship. I am not a scary or evil person and almost always listen and respond.

How many PMs have I got complaining? Zero if you don't count the unstable *member name deleted*.

Who starts more threads, brings more info to the forum and helps people when they ask? I would dare say that I have helped to prevent a suicide which in my mind supersedes ALL hurt feelings. Not saying it should give me carte blanche, but to pretend that I am unfeeling or apathetic to others is just plain wrong.

Did you know that I got multiple PMs about your last warning asking what was up with that very mild post? I had no explanation.

Even though no particular post truly violates the forum rules, you want to give me a "lifetime achievement award" for general irritation. Fine. Get out the cross and nails because people mistakenly identify their ideas with themselves. Let's ALL stay stuck in ego and wallow in ignorance while proclaiming we want to move beyond it. The irony is too mucking fuch. First burn the books, then kill off the intellectuals. We have seen this way too many times in history.

I also like you Tren and honestly do appreciate your position, but I have made major contributions. My ratings are uniformly very high, which tells me that most appreciate what I have to offer.

There IS a big difference between flaming and being politically incorrect. I cannot tolerate piss-poor thinking and faulty data. And I certainly do not get paid enough to present things the way others think I should present them.

Your tact and style is great for many. But do we really need two Trendals? That is essentially what you are telling me: that I need to emulate you. Was it really advantageous that evolving and sclorch left because of the noise?

Do what you must. I will not hold it against you, though others might.

Your bud,

Swam

Please point out the part where I said to "Shove it!" Thank you.

Pointing out lies, distortion and hypocrisy is not tantamount to crying. I won't leave, but will be forced to.

Cervantes: Please trust us. I'm sure nobody on the Staff wants to piss you guys off by censoring details. This is a complicated matter, with a long history. Much of the HARD evidence exists only in PRIVATE."

Yes folks, the evidence for public bating and flaming exists in private.

Do you lay down when an injustice is done to you? How can I "correct" my behavior when I still don't even know my "crime"? Some 350 posts here on the subject and yet no clarity?

Tomorrow I may say, "Very nice post!" and I could get banned because a moderator "knew" I was being sarcastic and disingenuous. This is about personality conflict and has nothing to do with rule breakabge.

Cervantes: Swami has been warned more times than the average Shroomerite for his behavior (Trust me, banning him was the LAST option, everything else had been tried... multiple times).

Apparently ONE time (since my last banning some nine months ago) is more than the average Shroomerite gets warned and constitutes "multiple times" in Mod-Speak.

Okay, just come back and post in S&P.  We miss your rhetoric.

Cervantes: Swami broke the rules. SEVERAL times.

Cervantes: Unlike MOST bans, there is no culminating event that constituted Swami's ban. Rather, he was banned so he could discover exactly what we were asking of him.

I broke the rules. No wait, no specific rules were broken. What EXACTLY are you asking of me? To stop not-breaking the rules?

Shroomism: Personally, I have nothing against Swami.

Shroomism: Maybe when he gets back he wont be such an abrasive asshole...

Do I EVER post anything like that? Even when the rules do not forbid? No! How does this NOT show bias?

Fucknuckle: I just don't go around my life Paranoid.

Fucknuckle: Swami was calling me a liar, a child molester and my confessions and my desire to get feedback as nothing more than fake and weak, with no merit. I'd say he was abusive and extremly insultive.

These are the types of innuendos that get me banned. Fucknuckle, a newbie, comes into the forum and starts slinging false accusations.

There was no reference to him AT ALL. I should NOT have to explain, but I counsel a convicted child-molestor who was talking suicide, leaving the country and /or going on a murderous rampage when facing a possible 25 years in prison. I am proud to say that I worked with him to get to admit what he did wrong, get off drugs and alcohol and today, after doing a year in the pen, he is a millionaire in real estate and has put his past behind him.

While this may be a bit dramatic, I don't think he's entirely out of line here. He did his time for a very unjust banning, and now it's his chance to prove why it was unjust.
