How it all started...

So what started your interest in mushrooms? I believe my fascination started early in life as witnessed by this picture of me:

I call it "the little shaman" and it was taken in the late '70s, possibly early '80s by my father. Something went wrong with the film, so it ended up being a double exposure. I rediscovered it a few years ago in a box of photos. It's the only picture of my childhood that I treasure, probably because of the serindipitous trippyness of it all.

(And to the horrified onlookers who've escaped from the hunting forum, I was only pretending to eat that mushroom, and I'm still in good health.)

That is a very very cool picture.  I'm not sure where my interest in mushrooms actually started but it really picked up once I learned you could grow your own...

Well my father was born in Russia, so I'm from mycophile stock. We used to hunt for edibles every fall. I hated the taste of mushrooms when I was young (and now I love the taste), but hunting for them was great fun.
