Hey Paw...I do live in TX but I'm not a native Texan. I'm actually from NE Pennsylvania where I lived for about half of my life. It's pretty scenic up there.
If I have to live in Texas now, there isn't any other place I'd prefer to be then Austin.

Iam from the deep south of texas in a city called Mission. Although for most people texas ends at san antonio and mexico begins in the valley.

pros
- low cost of living
- good music scene in all the major cities
- good people
- tex mex
cons
- the weather (not liking 90's for 10 months out of the year, sorry)
- conservative shithead politics/politicians
- nanny laws (we lead the country in them)
i don't think i'll ever completely lose touch with this state, b/c i have a lot of great friendships. but, i don't wanna die here. i'd like to leave within the next few years if i can't sensibly work out leaving for school.

oh that's an editorial article. not that i disagree with it, cause i remember when they put each of those laws into place that they talk about in dallas. but oregon has every single one of those laws and more. but really it seems to me the entire US has put laws into place like that and our nation as a whole has become a nanny state.

texas is also one of the largest and most heavily populated states. it's funny when they talk about texas being "the dwi capital of the us". we have two of the largest cities in the country/world in addition to a few other large'ish ones. our school system is so huge that it influences the rest of the country. naturally, we're going to have more of everything because we have more space and more people occupying it.

it almost did with the controversy involving the sboe's decision to include creationism in science text books. what happens with that is you have a huge publisher who wants texas as a client. rather than print a whole separate set of books for other states, the other states get what texas wants. common sense prevailed in the end, at least for now. our school system is a fuckin embarrassment.

born and raised in the 713, honestly, i hate houston
I love Austin, but I recently returned to Houston from being in the San Fran bay area and that truly felt like home to me.
I'm moving to Taiwan in a few months though

I'm 682 by proxy. Parents moved out near Fort Worth last year. Visited for the first time this past Christmas. Cool ass place, people are incredibly nice.

Not much man, enjoying the heat we finally have moving in after months of freaking cold-ass weather.
Any of you other Texas cats have trouble dealing with temperatures below 85 degrees Fahrenheit?
