When to give up on cakes?

I'ts been three weeks now, and there is still no activity on my cakes. I did the 3.2 tech, and used Eq. spores that were prolly about a year old that I got from the spore exchange. My jars don't stink, and they don't have any yellow or brown funk that is the usuall giveaway to contams. I think the jars smell a little like bananas, but it might be my imagination. I just can't see anything happening in the jars at all. Should I pitch them and start again? Or should I wait another week or two?
