I have brought salvia divinorum. I bought about 0ounce and half. I smoked some stuff which must have been times 20 extract. I would recommend it for anyone wishes to leave their head space for a few minutes and come down in about half an hour. The regular stuff is lame. I repeat lame. However I have found it good for insomnia. As a person has suffer from it for 20 years I highly recommend it. For the purpose of get fucked up, save your money and stick with the street drugs kids.

A small handful of people correctly smoke the plain leaves and trip well from it. I'm not one of them, just pointing it out.
At first I thought you said you bought an ounce and a half of something that must've been 20x.. was like, "man, I could find much better ways to spend that kinda money" hehe.

there are alot of things which will impede your salvia trip if you are not prepared.
-use a butane lighter or a crack torch. Salvia needs high tempuratures, so keep that bad boy lit.
-don't waste leaves by smoking them. If you want to trip on some leaves, put them in a french press and make tea.
-smoking one hit of 20x is better that smoking three hits of 10x in succession.
-HOLD IT IN FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN.
-Use a water bong or a long peace pipe to reduce the harshness.

I agree with most of what you said. I take only a couple of exceptions, based on my limited understanding.
If you are smoking extract, a regular lighter should work just fine. If you want the quickest, fullest effects per dose, a short pipe or waterless bong are your best bets. If you just can't stand all that smoke at once, you may decide that taking smaller, weaker hits over a longer time is your only option. It will probably be more difficult to break through like that.
I tend to think it's more a matter of technique however. Try taking your hits in segments. I've been working on getting several small tokes all in with one hit, instead of one big throat-burning hit. Assuming one large pinch of a certain extract is your ideal one-hit dose, you can still "hold the lighter on it the whole time" by not immediately inhaling. Pull the smoke into your mouth and keep it there for a couple of seconds, then inhale, hold it (don't exhale) and repeat until you have it all in. I suppose you could adapt this to bong use as well by cooling cumulative hits in the chamber before inhalation.
Cooled salvia smoke should be pretty easy on the lungs when compared to tobacco or even pot.

How much cones (bowls) of dried salvia leaf would it take to breakthrough? I'm thinking of buying one of them cone-pieces were you have like 5 or so cones in one. You smoke one, then rotate it and smoke the next. I'm thinking this would be the easiest way to break through using leaf.

4 or 5 huge inhallations of plain leaf. (prolly with a torch) or one big inhallation of 5x one moderate inhallation of 10x 1/2 inhallation of 20x
no torches for me, but I only use extract anyway, I did use a torch for plain leaf to burn the quantity quicker.
high temp is a bogus issue for salvinorin. & that is the 100% truth. high temp is not good for your lungs either.

I never used a torch on salvia, either.
I don't get effects from plain leaf, just the sweats and a mild tingle.
Aside from that, very good tips, Sweden

Yeah, I never noticed a difference between using a torch and a regular lighter when using an extract, and I don't smoke the regular leaves..

redgreenvines, i have just purchased plain salvia leaf. When you say "4 or 5 huge inhalations" do you mean 4 or 5 level-packed cones in quick succession, or haystacked cones that are like erupting from the cone piece?

in the spring,
then I moved it out of the washroom & into a bigger pot, and it is not doing quite as well. though I spray it daily and water it. it misses the indirect illumination skylight of the washroom

The December Flood of 2004
On the Second Christmas Day The Ocean washed their Lives away Without a warning the water came In death the rich and poor are same Many thousands on this day drowned Their own street their burial ground We sit and sigh by the TV It happened to them not you or me But on the Second Christmas Day The Ocean washed their Lives away
Give away cuttings to everyone! Yes, especially granny! It's a pretty houseplant, it's not toxic in the usual sense of nibbling pets and you can always lift a cutting off of granny when you're in need of one. What Salvia needs is as many plants in as many spots, gardens and pots that it can get.
