Identification help
    #3537137 - 12/23/04 07:24 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

Found in Washington state. Pretty damp grass. It's pretty cold out too. +/- 45F daytime +/- 35F Night time.
Gills were slightly pinkish but mostly white.
Varied from half inch to 1 and a half inch
Fairly thin black stem. One or two had more then one stem.
Mostly purpelis to a blackish brown. What appears to be a nipple in the middel. (Sorry for the non-technical speak)
Not much of a scent and I can't get a spore print because I already dried them.

I do have a pic.

It's hard to say without a spore print, not active though. Do not eat.

I'm with shroomydan on this one.

If we go with a *really* wild guess that the spore print will be pinkish (based on your description of the gill colors), then it falls into the group of genera around Entoloma. Those are very difficult to identify to species, and lots of them are dangerously poisonous.

Happy mushrooming!

I see those in Seattle often. The stem and cap are black and is usually about 4 inches high. It is neither hallucinogenic nor edible so don't bother with it. I don't know its scientific name.

No don't take a bite. Your mushrooms are not active and probably poisonous. There are some LBMs with pink gills that are deadly.

Claviceps, the mods in this forum will not tolerate that kind of shit. I'm new to this mod game and haven't banned anyone yet. Don't be my first. You have officially been warned.

And the psilocybian genera Pluteus (six psilocybian species) with P. salicinus which has pink gills.
