Salvia Questions
    #3538330 - 12/24/04 09:17 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

I have 7 salvia plants . It all started not long ago when I recived one cutting. It grew fast and I was able to make cuttings. Now the "motherplant" is as tall as I want it to be (1.4 meters), can I just cut off the top or is this damaging to the plant?

I have yet to try salvia out, I havent found time to sit down and experience with this. I was thinking about trying to make one of those chewing cigars wich is described in the book plant of the gods before I smoke it. Is the effects much diffrent when chewing salvia?

I have been harvesting leaves all the time and have about 50-100 leaves that are dried and put into a bag for now. How long can I store salvia like this? and what is the best way to dry salvia and store it?

happy holidays

salvia can be stored in the dark dry forever.
the chewing thing uses ~20 times as much material but you could go 4 times with your stash or you could smoke ~100 times with higher shorter peaks.

you can trim your salvia as you please, new branches will sprout from the nodes below. it's a good time to take cuttings, if thats the case.

chewing fresh salvia is very effective but may frighten one a little bit as the onset is very subtle, i would recommend you trying to smoke leaves before because it lasts shorter but can also be a pretty intense experience.

store the leaves with the least air possible in the bag (drying them in a book helps that), in a dry dark cold place (20 celsius or less) and they should stay strong for a good while.

merry christmas!
