the path
    #3536569 - 12/23/04 04:20 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

Last Friday I was tripping and took a walk down to a river near my house and was walking along it and came to a path I hadn't seen before that led into some tall grass and woods. It came out into an area that was this tall cane like stuff. I followed along it and was totally flipping when I got to a point and simply couldn't go on. It was just as scary as shit. Anyhow, I turned around and ran back where I was parked and sat out on a dock for a while. And of course I started thinking about all the paths that life puts in front of us and how sometimes we are too scared to take a certain path when we don't know where it may lead. So, today I was back near this area and stopped and walked back down the path and took a pic of the place where I froze up. Here it is:

This time I walked through and came out here:

Now I see there was nothing to be scared of, except for the unknown. It was all in my head.

Fear almost always boils down to one thing...the unkonwn.

Overcoming fears and diving headlong into the unknown can be some of the most rewarding times in life.  It can also lead to some of the worst.  That what make the unknown so scary, and yet so alluring at the same time.

Nice pics btw...
