One Flush, & One Flush Only!
    #353670 - 07/12/01 11:39 AM (23 years, 6 months ago)

I have been trying my hand at cultivaton for some time now, and so far, I seem to be able to get good colonization in the jars, rarely losing any to contams. My question is, why is it that healthy jars cased using straight verm in pans, placed in a humid chamber only seem to flush once?
For example, 4 -1/2 pt jars using Eq's were cased, and flushed, yeilding 120 grms wet. But never flushed again. I am misting, and fanning, and following the 'Rules' as closely as possibly, but the example given is typical of my experience.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks
-DCC

How long are you waiting? It can take a week in between flushes. Also, increasing your substrate depth may help.

they are probably running out of water...... soak the soil pretty good if tehy don't flush again.... maybe even dunk it.... this kind of fools the shroomies into thinking that it just rained and that it is time to sprout.... let us know how it goes

This is what works for me:

After first flush, remove ALL abhorts and other bits of all mushies. Deep scratch with sterile fork, give a medium misting and recover with thin layer of casing material. Cover with saran wrap with 12 or so holes punched in it and put in dark place for a few days. After a few days, put in lighted terrarium again.

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do
Nowhere to go
I wanna be sedated
