First Trip

Yesterday at around 4 pm i ate 2.5 grams of dried mushrooms for the first time with a couple of friends. The trip was amazing but now about 24 hours later i have a huge headache. Something to worry about or a passing feeling?

I get a headache after shrooms most of the time. Doesnt bother me though, it's worth it for the trip :thumbup:

Who told you that shrooms swell your brain? If that's true I need to eat LOTS more because they must make you really smart if they make your brain bigger.

I may be wrong but I've heard that that's what shrooms do to you. Your brain swells up causing it to bleed. That's what triggers a "trip."

Psilocin attacks the synapses that are typically encountered by serotonin. That and serotonin suppression is what causes you to trip.

I hope you weren't serious about the bleeding brain thing.

in all likelihood your headache will pass on its own. if you want to speed things up, take several pills of vitamin C, that seems to do the trick for me for some reason.

And no, shrooms don't make you hallucinate by making your brain bleed. That's gross misinformation. The main psychedelic ingredient of shrooms, psilocybin, turns to psilocin in your body. Psilocin is very similar to one of the main brain neurotransmitters, serotonin. Thus, for a short time there's a change in your brain chemistry, the switching of brain filters so to speak. Newer research proved that maximum concentrations of psilocin occur in the brain only for a very short period of time and that is before the actual trip begins. Therefore it is quite possible that psilocin (and other psychedelics) simply "push some buttons" inside your brain, and those buttons or keys are what makes you trip (even after the blood concentration of a taken psychedelic has been brought to almost zero levels).

No brain bleeding ever occurs, period.

Any of you whom experience headaches post-mushrooms trip..

Are you keeping yourselves well hydrated? Water, juices, etc. Soda not included.

People should never talk about something they know nothing about. I'm not talking directly to you chester, just that people are stupid and uneducated. You didnt know, but now you do! Thats why the shroomery and places like erowid exist. Thank god for that.
