Should this actually come to be where is the surprise? The fans of the nanny state and big government have gotten us to this point.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

That's good. It will reduce or eliminate identity theft.

That's good. It will increase and facilitate government profiling.

So we elect people who pass laws that they don't know they're passing? And we get 1984-like monstrosities like this? Where is this "home of the brave, land of the free" America that most people talk about? Cause it sure as shit is not here....

I remember back in grade school when I learned about our founding fathers, how they nobly fought the Brittish imperialists and created the Bill of Rights and the Consitution to make sure that opression could never rear its ugly head again.

But now I realize that those are just dreams of the past. Our current world situation is a draconian disaster waiting to happen, and the people stoking the engine fires, the American people, are so blind with their own self interest that they would lead all of humanity to the brink of destruction and be the first ones to step off the edge.

What a disgrace to our ancestors who fought so hard to make this country a free place. Modern day patriots should be trying to overthrow the government right now, like the Declaration of Independence says is our right. Did you get that? Our own Declaration of Independence is obliging Americans to take action. Our government is destructive to its own ends; it is dismantling the Bill of Rights. Slowly but surely, those Americans who are actually paying attention, or who can rip their gaze away from the propaganda machine long enough to see, are realizing this. We no longer have authority over our own government and our votes don't mean shit.

Stockpile assult rifles and thermite, because we are in for a long winter. We can make this country whole again, but the civil war that is going to start in 2005 will not make it easy.

Major Banks and credit card companies have applauded the adoption of a National ID system as being important to counter fraud and increasing instances of identity theft. National ID cards with biometric markers will eliminate them from having to issue Credit and Debit cards, which for the first time in US history have surpassed the usage of checks and cash. Utilizing The Department of Homeland Securities centralized federal database, Banks and credit card companies will only require the presentation of a citizens Driver?s License to make purchases as all of the persons financial information, including credit and cash balances, will already be known in ?real time?. (The combining of Homeland Security and Banking databases on citizen?s balances and purchases, along with their past and present purchasing information, has been allowed under previous Federal Laws including the Patriot Act.)

Wow! Cashless society, scary.

With that spelling, I assume you voted red, eh? I think that people really need to reflect on all of this. This isn't just pot-induced paranoia, but forceful takeover of freedom. People are dying for oil, everyone's profiled, & if you're not Christian you're trash to Bush. I wonder if even those votes were real with all of the scandalous things that go on in out government. It's sick & people need to wake up & rise up. I do, however, understand you have a separate opinion, but I wish you would open your eyes.

i take little pleasure in telling you i told you so..but i told you so...how looney does the conspiracy theory sound now??...

fortunately..you dont have to live in a cashless society.. at least not until big brother starts controlling ownership of precious metals ..

http://www.norfed.org...

and my hunch is that many merchants will start accepting these if the govt tries to mandate the use of iris scans as debit cards...
