LOADED is their best album by far, although White Light, White Heat is awesome too
the Velvets are great, so is Lou's solo stuff
check out John Cale's solo stuff, too esp. Paris 1919 or whatever it is called

hahah you did not just tell me to buy velvet revolver's CD, i hope...
i'd rather eat my cat's vomit
than hear what that manufactured, groomed bunch of assholes has to say
esp since i've heard the disk and it sucks
the real velvets are better than most bands out today, and that certainly includes Velvet Revolver

John Cale has a few good solo LP's/CD's: Vintage violence, Paris 1919, slow dazzle, fear etc. I agree that loaded was the velvet's best by far. Ever hear their live stuff:Max's kansas city(it's in mono) or live velvet underground 1969? You might enjoy them, as for Lou's solo albums i would go with either the first self titled LP or maybe "Coney island baby" with perhaps honourable mention to: The Bells. For guitar freaks i would have to say his 2 live mid 70's ones: Rock and roll animal as well as Lou reed live

I have been a big fan of John Cale for 30 years. You can buy a double CD of Fear, Slow Dazzle and Helen of Troy, called the Island Years. Also Carribean Sunset is brilliant, melodic and totally nasty. Sabotage Live is relentless
As for the Velvets, they did a live tour in 1994 and recorded it before Sterling died. Even better than originally done.
Interestingly, Reed does a band intro that perfectly illustrates what a douchebag he is. He introduces Sterling and Mo and then goes on to say that he and John think that "this is pretentious shit." As if he is above it all. Talk about pretentious! I love the music but the man is an asshole. My favorite song; "Heroin" on Rock and Roll Animal. Not just Velvet or Reed song but of all time.
