Computer Problems
    #3530878 - 12/22/04 10:01 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

My computer doesnt want to boot up, the power comes on but nothing loads. i firstly put this down to the hard drive but i put a fully working one in there and the problem persists, i am now thinking i have a problem with my RAM or motherboard?

Any suggestions welcome..

Mushie Man..

How far does the boot sequence get before it stops? If you never see anything on the screen, do you hear the hard drive reading for a while and see it checking for boot disk and CD even though the screen is blank? If so you may need to troubleshoot your video card which I think I can help with.

If it truly stops dead at boot with no progress, then it could indeed be your chipset on the motherboard. However, it's good to remove all of the expansion cards in your desktop except the video card and try loading it up as barebones. If it loads up in that form, turn off and add one card, then turn off again and add another, up until it stops dead again and they you know which card is causing the problem (the most recently added one).

..Hope this is of some help.
