K, now im not totally sure about this so i thought i would get yous guys opinion on it. When you overdose on mushrooms it's the psilocybin that kills you right?

how can you overdose on mushies? oh yah if you eat your BODY WEIGHT ... im unsure but ya i think its the psilocybin or the amount of mushies in your body

from e erything ive read you cant actually overdose on mushies, to do it you would have to eat 20lbs of them in one sitting, in wich case your stomach would 'explode' first *edit* one thing ive notied though is every document ive read has somethig different =\ *edit*

I've seen on some site that you will die from eating 17 grams, another said 22. I was just curious though, there's no point in actually eating over 10 grams cuz i don't think you can get more fuct up than a level 5 or whatever.

actually you could easily eat 17g(well might be hard on the stomach) but to od you would have to take about 280mg/kg of pure psilocybin, so thats alot of mushrooms, so unless you do a heavy extraction you'll never really od

Since nobody really answered this point of your question: yes, it is the psilocybin/psilocin that would kill you if you managed to overdose.
I'm repeating what everyone has already said here....but don't worry about an OD from shrooms. I'd say it's about impossible to accidentally OD on shrooms.

There is no known L.D.50 for psilocybin! This means nobody has ever eaten enough mushies for the psilocybin to kill them. (And the guy who posted before me was talking out of his ass.)
Unless you eat enough to make your stomach rupture, they won't kill you. Of course you can eat too much and have too intense a trip, but that's not the same as overdosing.

what the fuck are you talking about??? have you read anything? Psilocybin is a poison as are most other plant derived-drugs, the LD50 for it is ~280mg/kg (not sure about exact # but about there)

ya, well those LD50 numbers are derived from animal studies... and if i had 280 mg of pure psilocybin chemical, i sure as hell wouldn't be injecting laboratory mice with it...
the chemical has a very wide safety margin ( i mean, you can "feel" 5-10 mg, and trip bigtime on 20-40 mg, and if you extrapolate mouse/rat LD50s up to humans, and a human is like 80 kiligrams, that's like 25 or so grams of pure psilcybin chemical, & i mean who in their right mind would consider injesting an ounce of pure psilocybin, the mind boggles...

actually it says it is somewhere on the shroomery , same place it gives ya the ld50, plus it makes sense, some plants make toxins to kill and i guess these mushies just make animals go nuts and not kill em.

What's wrong with what trendal said?
If you took 25g of pure psilocybin, (if that is a lethal dose for humans) you would die of psilocybin poisoning. Obviously.
There isn't a known human LD50 for psilocybin but there still has to be one.
How much material does it actually take to rupture your stomach? 25g of psilocybin from cubies containing 2mg psilocybin per gram would be 12.5kg of shrooms. Is it possible to eat that much of anything without killing yourself? Not that you'd ever be able to hold it all down.

ive heard sooooo much about shroom overdose!!! i heard some 8 year old girl overdosed in harlem!! ive also read that youre kidney would fail or youre stomach would do something cuasing you to die before you could eat enough psilocybin to kill you!! i know a guy who ate a half once of shrooms at one time!!! hes gone sober now and doesnt do drugs anymore!!! i also now a gut who ate 3/4 of a half once and he doesnt do shrooms anymore!! okay, heres my experience storie: it takes around 8 days for shrooms to get completely dry in a dessisant chamber (what i use to dry my shrooms) and i ate a 27 grams of shrooms that were in the chamber for 5 days. they were almost dry, just a little wiggly. that was a super crazy trip, but id deffinately do it again. theres too much to explain but i will tell you that my friends faces would turn upside down and thyre eyeballs would drip down theyre face!! i aslo forgot how to talk and almost fell out of the moving car!!! some more crazy stuff about that trip is that the driver was on 6 acid sugarcubes and we were sitting on the sand at the beach!! even if i tried i couldnt tell you everything that happened in that night in order. it was just an out of mind experience were you werent you and your friends are either one of you or one of them!! the craziest part about it was that was my 2 shroom trip!!

my friend ate 1/2 0 and tripped out hard!!! he said, he could not breath. he Went to the hospital and got stomach pumped. Nurse said he "OD". I'm trippin now. ps. we smoked a few grams just before he freaked out!!!
