grey shrooms

ok, my frind needs help. he has been doing the perlite humidification teq. he keeps his cakes in tuperware boxes and fans them once a day to let them oxygenate for about 2 mins. he has never had a problem in the past. but now he is getting no shroomies. the ones he does get are either grey and puney, the grey and pueny ones being abundant and abhort like. the fatasses he has are dripping wet and the tops are black and bulbous. the only thing he's doing different is he doesn't have his aquarium bubbler hooked up. so i'm thinking these guys aren't getting enough oxygen.
no mold spotted. nothing off color. what did he do wrong?
he thinks it could have something to do with too much water in the perlite or the fact that he didn't double end case the cakes like he was told.

help please.

sounds like co2 build up and very high moisture content. hook that bubbler back up post haste so those shrooms can breathe.
