Burnt Jars
    #352696 - 07/01/01 09:50 PM (22 years, 7 months ago)

Three of the jars that I pressure cooked came out really burnt on the bottom, and the substrate in those jars looks like it's kind of cooked. Is it ok to inoculate this once it cools down, or will the mycelium only grow on uncooked rice? Also, I have a few other jars that look a little cooked but not as much as the burnt ones, if the burnt ones aren't ok to use would the ones that are a little bit cooked be ok? Thank you for any answers you guys can give me. :)

I always cook my BR for me it lessons the chance of adding to much moisture. Burnt I do not know I think Alien made a post a while back that burnt or overcooked substrate will cause the mycelium growth to slow down and even stop.

The burnt jars are probably too dry to harbor any myco growth. Best not to waste your spores.
