im still a noob, i infact have never grown mushrooms before. but i think i have a preety good idea of where im goin. my problem is...
im gona use a popcorn substrate in 1/2 pint jars, but im confused on how long i need to cook them. i've got a crappy 6qt pressure cooker that i got off ebay for 9 bucks, so i dont want to cook the jars for any longer than i half to. do you guys think i could get away with cooking 4 jars on 8 psi. for 50 or 60 minutes?
thnx for any help you can give

I do not believe that 8 p.s.i. will translate to the correct temperature that you need to kill off the microorganisms. Why only 8 p.s.i.?

You want to get to about 250 degrees. I suppose you could try boiling the jars.

the pressure cooker is really shakey, im worried about it blowing up on me. it only has two settings, 8psi and 12. and the knob that you use to adjust the setting is loose and pops off. i just got it and havent used it yet.

ok i just whent and examined the pressure cooker a little closer and realized that the cup thing that holds some stuff together at the knob thats used to adjust the pressure, is broken down inside the structre, i think this could be related to it not working. so thnx for the help but it looks like im in the market for a new pressure cooker.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
