 Do Shrooms Smell?

Hey everyone! I don't think they do, but do fresh shrooms have a strong, noticeable smell? I know when they are dry, they have a distinct smell, but I am more worried about a strong smell someone would be able to detect from, say more than 20 feet. Thanks for your help!

Fresh YES, they make a whole house smelling, but if you keep the window open for some time daily and keep them in a closed container NO.
Dried, they have no smel.l

Dry have absolutely no identifiable odor, so much so that the US customs doesn't even train dogs to try to smell for them (not that mushrooms are a high-priority smuggling commodity anyway). You can (or could) order dried mushrooms from overseas and they would arrive unmolested in your mail box...from the hand of your friendly neighborhood postal employee. Now, I would have some serious concerns about security issues regarding the scrutiny that the US mail is under right now, for obvious reasons.

ok, im currenty doing my first attempt at growing shrooms. dry i know that they dont relaly have a smell... but i searched for the question if fresh ones do have a smell, and this is the post i got... with two different answers. the ammount im growing (at most) would be 24 1/2 pint bottles, which so far are sterile. could please somebody help me out with this? do fresh shrooms smell? if they do is there any way that i could make them smell less if they do? i dont mean to be annoying, but this is the only info i could find on this site about the topic.

No. Mushrooms don't have noses... 
Seriously, although, I'm sure they do give off some aromatic molecules, I do not think that psilocybin mushrooms have a noticeable odor, which would present a cultivation detection problem, the way that cannabis does.
However, I do distinctly remember about 20 years ago when my friend and I picked a shitload of Amanita Muscaria mushrooms in the wild, and filled the refrigerator with them, that the smell got quite bad, and the refrigerator full of Amanitas became quite a point of contention for many of the women in the house. I think that part of this smell was do to decomposition, and a. Muscaria, being a different species, does seem to have a much stronger natural odor than p. Cubensis.

OLD OLD Thread I know... But I need to clear this up(this was first result on google for my search btw)
Cubensis DO SMELL!
My fucking living room wreaks right now!
I have about 2600 grams wet in the dehydrator and it's putting out a thick damp odour of magic mushrooms that pretty well fills the house.
I have someone else living downstairs who is I hope completely oblivious to my cultivation hobby, and people saying that mushrooms don't smell have not informed me well. Yes they do.
Here's my fix:
Take 50 cloves, 1/4 cup of cinnamon, 50 black pepper corns, some nutmeg and grind it up in a large mortar and pestle. Then pour in 3 tablespoons cooking oil and 3 tablespoons vanilla extract. Mash it into a paste and spread it over a plate. Place that at the bottom of the dehydrator. It's helping, but not 100%. It smells like delicious but I can still sense the mushroom dank behind the spices.
Anyways... I just wanted to clear that up.

In my experience their worst stink comes from drying them in a dehydrator on a higher heat.
If you grow with grain jars and a bulk substrate, in a 66 qt monotub (capable of putting out 2 - 8 OZ depending on genetics) there will be little to know smell.
Drying them is a different story but drying smell is only bad when you're using a dehydrator with a heating element.

i can notice a slight odour when i walk in my room even from just 20 half pint jars starting to colonize.....its probly just the smell of wet verm and brf flower...i have a good nose though.
haha no i dont need to tell her any excuse shes super down

not anymore lol. before i got a second dehydrator i was drying so much and learned this neat lil trick to pack em in the dehydrator

Some of my tubs smell but it's not a smell that moves around the house.
But the dehydrator smell like a I soaked a months worth of dirty socks in some bath water and placed them on warm air vents... shit it fucking stinks right now! I better mix up some more cloves and cinnamon or something lol
It only smells for the few hours when the mushrooms are really wet and the heat is pulling moisture out of them. Once they are getting close to cracker dry I don't smell it anymore.
