The sound of existance
    #3522005 - 12/19/04 10:08 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Recently, I rediscovered something I always noticed as a kid.
Its like a really high pitched noise behind everything at all times. But it's not really a noise at all, it comes from within and I'm almost certain its not tinitus.

The closest it approximates to is a high pitched constant tone. But ir really isn't a sound in the conventional sense, and it's sort of so constant, that I beleive it is negated by the mind. Removed because it is so used to it. You wouldn't pick it up unless you really tryed. It's much more noticeable when it's really quiet, and impossible to pick out when theres any background noise.

The reason I'm asking is because when I was young I would ask people if they could 'hear' it, and people would just think I was talking shite again. But I asked someone the other day and I made them 'listen for it' and they described it back to me exactly what it is.

So, does anyone else notice this? Even better, does anyone know WHAT it is?

Im not sure what your hearing is, but it reminds me that even though we cant hear it the sun is roaring constantly at a frequency so low that we are unable to hear it. On the subject of what your talking about it would make sense for every living thing to be putting out an energy that may be audible to some and not to others.

After reading it again i know what your talking about. in the absense of noise youll hear a high pitch ring, almost like what you hear from a t.v. I notice it most when im out in the woods.

I have tinitus and i must say i hate it.

It mostly is the high pitched squeel. Cept i hear it all the time even if there is no background noise. I have to sleep with a tv on so it doesnt bug me.

Mine got worse when i had an ear infection.

I used to think I suffered from tinitus for a while. But becuase of that worry, I read a bit about it and it doesnt quite add up.
I think I am just extra susceptible to this thing and it was bugging me because I have always noticed it throughout my life.

Sorry to hear that anyway Baraka. I mean, I know the feeling after you go to a really noisy gig, to have something like that all the time must be just pure annoyance. :frown:

what you are hearing is the cycling of electricity.  could be seriously, but mostly not.  tinitus would suck...  I had tubes in my ears till i was 12.  i have schizoaffective disorder so i disregard anything i hear
