TiT heater suspension

So Ive got my two tubs, and my heater. Heater is 150 watt submersible called 'visi-therm deluxe' made by marineland. My question is, will this be safe/ok using only the two suction cups/mount it comes with in the bottom of my TiT. The total gap with tubs together is 4.5cm, and the heater rests 1.5cm off the bottom and 1cm from the top. Will this be enough distance to prevent overheating? or should I just go ahead and stack say 4 jason jars in the bottom to support the tub/give the heater more room. also if i do this, will the 1.5(maybe 2cm) off the bottom be ok? Thanks for your advice=) ! ~D

My friend has a similar set up and he only uses the suction cups. He has less space between tubs than your set up and has had no problems with any overheating or melting of tubs. Hope that helps.

I have been using 4, 1/2pint jars for spacing on my TiT. For securing heater to bottom of tub I have used Professional (waterproof) Duct Tape from acehardare.com part #44467 you will see a high price for the tape on the site but,it is for a multi-pack, single roll is much cheaper. It is waterproof. I have had no problems with it coming loose under water.

Well I left it running and it seems to be doing ok, heater turns on and off as if its regulating the heat. At first I thought it wasn't working, but I suppose maybe my room is already ideal for incubating temps..I dont have a therm but ill prob pick one up at work tonite. The floating therm I have inthe water says its 88 degrees..so. ~D

The heaters usually say that it takes around 8 hours to stabilize the temp then you adjust the temp accordingly and your heater should cycle on and off like its been doing once the water is a certain temp it shuts off.

The temp in the water will generally be much lower then the temp inside. I had to set my heater to about 74 to get 84 degrees. Make sure you get the temp readings in the tub..

So far the aquarium therm says 88 degrees, exactly what I have my heater set to warm the water upto..but it feels so, i dunno? not 88? The highest my heater goes is 90 i believe...will all that heat transfer to the inside tub and stay put as long as i keep a heavy blanket/s over the top?should i wrap a blanket/around the side to prevent heat loss there too?
I have my remote sensor in 2 plastic bags sumberged at the moment, just to verify the aquarium therm, so paranoid.. ~D
