$9 tabletop greenhouse

Well, I spent a couple hours browsing the store today and this is what i ended up with:
So I have a few questions now =\.
1)Has anyone else used this model or similar before for mushroom cult? 2)Being such a small greenhouse, will misting do fine instead of a US humidifier? 3)I bought a coolmist and will modify it tommorow for air exchange, will this introduce humidity (ive read these lower the humidity most cases?) 4)If I leave a good layer of perlite in the bottom i plan on making, would this do ok for humidity. 5)Whats the cheapest hygrometer found in stores that's applicable for leaving inside the chamber?
Thanks for the help! ~D

I got it at fred meyers(pnw store thats merged with kroger) in the garden center. Since im an employee its actually a few bucks cheaper, but you can get it from 12-15 bucks, no more then 15, still a great deal IMO. They have larger ones too that are just like the martha stewart linin closets, about the same price as well(same basic idea, metal shelving, zippable plastic cover.) But I dont want large scale, for one i have no room, two i dont want to grow that much at once..oh and three i guess, this would prob be easier to regulate. Its called a 'table top greenhouse' by garden accents. Coomes in a purple toned box with a display pic of it assembled. Check walmarts/shopkos/ect in the garden centers, or check the home area for similar linin closests. =) ~D

I've used an aquarium with plexiglass top, and 5 gallon plastic spring water bottles.Perlite should provide 90-95%humidity if your greenhouse is relatively air-tight. [image]http://[/image]

straws are used to add water. You drill a hole about halfway into one and stick the straw in. Personaly i just spraw my top casing (after a double ended casing of a cake)

Its made by lights of america. I got it at fred meyers. Its a 20 watt 24 inch flourescent. Called 'undercabinet portable light' because it has two screws you can place accordingly and then slip it on, if you wish. It was..*gets receipt* before my discount, 10.99, and comes with a bulb included. I bought a GE 'sunshine' full spectrum light "simulates noonday summer sun, ideal for color critical areas or where sunlight is at a minimum". This was another 8.99 for the bulb alone. I'm sure the included flourescent would work (only using this so mushrooms have an intense directional light from above so they will grow strait up, and cause its nice to have for growing cactii and herbs.) Just searched and found these links: GE 20 watt 24" sunshine fluorescent (first 1 on page): http://www.gelighting.com/na/home_lighting/products/fluorescent/24_inch.htm Lights of America 24" undercabinet ballast w/ included bulb: http://www.lightsofamerica.com/uc.htm I'll be building a suspension for this, stay tuned :P lol. Hope that answered any questions =). ~D

Just an update:
Building a tube system to input mist from humidifier, at this point i dont think ill need an ultrasonic tho, this chamber is only 20x20x30in.
I will prob build a support tower of some sort for this, im afraid to attach and just let it hang from the pvc skirt. Im thinking i will take a sheet of plastic, like 12x3 inches wide, drill holes into it for the entry tips to go in, and then make some plugs with the 3/4 pvc i have to hold the entry points to the pvc. Prob just glue the plastic sheet to the pvc skirt for support. Dunno yet, any ideas or used methods for u martha users? ~D

Don't need a hydrometer - if your using a cool mist you'll have plenty of humidity. Wet perlite and occasional misting will do just fine. I like to keep the humidity at 88% for meatier shrooms.

Use some duct tape on both sides before you cut the hole with a sharp razor. Ala the martha, search posts for martha, Magash has a good post.

Not yet, right now the pvc skirt just drapes over the structure, but there will be by the time i'm done. Probably will find some sort of serving tray thats large enough to fit under it, then some more pvc skirt so i can seal it to the top skirt. ~D
